This photograph was taken at South Mountain Park in Phoenix, Arizona. South Mountain Park is the largest city park in the United States. One of the largest urban Parks in North America and in the world. South Mountain Park preserves in a natural state a mountainous area of 16,283 acres. Originally called Phoenix Mountain Park it was formed in 1924 when President Calvin Coolidge sold its initial 13,000 acres to the city of Phoenix for $17,000. Prominent local citizens with the help of Senator Carl Hayden put the purchase together. It has since been expanded through Bond Programs during 1970's into early 1980's. This photograph was taken at Dobbins Lookout. Photographed on September 8,2013 just after a morning rain shower.
